Attitude Survey

Welcome to my page focussing on a national scientific survey I’m conducting.  My name is Martha Heppard—I’m an artist, physician and surgeon, and … an individual with a, now, well controlled psychiatric disorder. I remember some impressions I had about those with mental or substance abuse disorders before I went to medical school and learned the truth about these conditions.

….Because of my unique position, and having personal experience with wondering whether or not I had mood, personality, or thought disorder, I want to help prevent others from going through what I experienced in the last 15 years. I was initially (for two years) treated incorrectly, saw mental health providers who didn’t seem to care, and was forced into a life threatening situation at one of our nation’s top private psychiatric facilities.

….I’m currently writing a book—Staying Alive; Surviving & Thriving with Bipolar II (current working title)— about mental health.  It focuses on some commonalities of many illnesses, and also specifically on bipolar.  I desire to help our fellow Americans, who suffer from a psychiatric condition, to thrive. Please help me by taking this survey. It will only take a couple of minutes and it’s completely anonymous. This means I can’t write to thank you directly, but I do very much appreciate your contribution.  If you’d like to keep informed about my progress on this book, please occasionally check  my author’s Facebook page.  I will periodically post updates, as well as place a post when the book is being released.

Sincerely,
Martha
